Welcome to my blog! Catchin’ up with Kaye is where I keep readers up to date on my work in progress—The Quest for Zarahemla series.

The books are historical novels based on events in the Book of Mormon, when Lamanites conquered the land of Nephi and just as the prophet Abinadi had predicted, the Nephite people became enslaved to their Lamanite overlords. Though wicked King Noah had been burned at the stake, Amulon and the priests became raiders, preying on the helpless Nephites. The renegade priests captured a group of Lamanite maidens and took them as wives. Wars, pestilence and famine plagued the Nephites.

King Limhi, Noah’s son, was a godly man. Desperate to find help for his people, he sent a search party to locate the lost city of Zarahemla. He hoped the Zarahemlans would send aid to the Land of Nephi. After many days in the wilderness, the searchers found what remained of a ruined civilization. Bones and rusted armor littered a battlefield. It appeared the city of Zarahemla had been destroyed. Imagine their disappointment. Their mission had failed. (You’ll find the whole story recorded in the book of Mosiah in the Book of Mormon.)

The quest for Zarahemla stirred my curiosity. What if King Limhi had sent boys to find the lost city because there were already too many widows and fatherless children in the Land of Nephi? Think of the adventure—the risk and danger.

It’s just the kind of story I like to read. So I wrote it. I hope you’ll enjoy reading it, too.

  3. I hope you have great success with your stories. I like historical fiction. They can be fun as long as the facts aren't played with.
